Polluted BioMass is Turned into BioChar
Polluted biomass is heated in a low-oxygen environment, which causes it to undergo a process known as pyrolysis.
The pyrolysis process breaks down the organic matter into three main products: biochar, syngas, and bio-oil.
Biochar is a form of carbon that is stable and can be stored in our Brick 29 Plant Based Concrete formulation for hundreds to thousands of years, effectively removing it from the atmosphere. As a result, the production of biochar through the pyrolysis of biomass can be seen as a way of sequestering, or capturing and storing, carbon.
